I am working on a book,
yes a book, that has about 300
characters.

Seriously? How are you going to come up with names for them all?
I had a very hard time with my Egyptian characters. Mainly because 1) the name has to be historically accurate, 2) the name has to be easily pronouncable to modern readers, and 3) the name has to fit the character. So, let's just say that I had my work cut out for me.
Also, the 2 Nefertari's...there are 2 on the list for a good reason, which won't be revealed for some time.

I just think of them as i need them.
